2.20/mile isn't bad. I've figured a target all-miles number of 2.14 which includes roughly 30% profit. I'm beating that number too. My bottom line break even number is in the 1.43 range which still puts up money for future maint., plates, 2290, breakdowns, etc. The owner of the company I'm leased to is always telling me 'you and your math'. I'm becoming more and more perplexed as to how he's even in business, but I've got a good idea...
$3 to $5+ per mile

We are in central Illinois.
I pay one of his kids $100 qtr to file my IFTA. Not a requirement but feel it’s a small price to pay to keep the peace.
I should add that although not a requirement to stay leased I have helped him harvest ( a few days a year). I have helped him transfor his trucks to and from the shop from time to time and helped him work on his trucks and trailers when he is in a bind. I figure this has a value of maybe $400 a month? But I’m hanging out around the house doing things I like to do with people I like to be around for the most part anyway.
I pay for my own plates and HHUT tax but they file and just take it out of my settlement in one payment. I also pay my bobtail and comp myself.Ruthless Thanks this. -
If he's bringing on O/Os, I would be interested to talk to him. Can you post contact info? I have my own truck/flatbed, plates, 2290, insurance (except cargo/liab.), and file my own IFTA. -
Why not Kentucky, Cali or Colorado?

I don’t think he’s in the trucking business anymore, last I knew he sold out.
