I had a pair of square toes that served me with steel toe, a metal shank and plain no design leather with boot strap loops. Those pretty much lasted most of all my trucking.

I keep a pair of Bellevue Boots *(Make sure you purchase specifically from the Civilian Sales team, they put a logo on the back heel and a couple of other places on those boots to protect you from trying to pose or defraud our military because the other half of the factory does make boots for the Military) that are summer, USMC Tanker model vehicle work. It has a silver shank in there for anti bacterial and appears to dissapate heat pretty good along with steel toe. And of course the soles are really grippy. I think they ran me about 170 a pair good for about a decade if I am careful to only wear them now and then in the summer. I have yet to get the winter version which is warmer. At first look it's plain and brown color, nothing fancy at all. IF you did not know about the Bellevue company or never seen a Marine in similar boots you would not know what they were.

However at the end of day it's the square front steel towed western boot that is plain with loops top that I considered very good. I got about 35 years out of them. I recall the square heel about a inch could get into the notched pedals just so for shifting in the old iron which I think was what they were made for.

 

I've had a pair of red wings that held up very well working around chemicals and resin. Just put some water proof on them now and then.
