Finishing a 17 stop load in and around Chi-town a day early is a combination of luck and diligence. Knowing not to shut your truck off and getting to the Freightliner is diligence. You know your truck. Most people can't say that. As for being a gigolo, where can you find good training?

Hilarious.....but there are people out here for real going through things. Usually the ones going through the things will gladly accept my buying them food or a few groceries. Most of the time they don't. People get messed up sometimes. If someone is genuinely hungry, what's a few bucks to buy them a meal?

Maybe his Werner Trainer pooped his pants and the trainee just voluntarily left the truck? Or the trainer insisted that all brushing of teeth must take place in the truckstop restroom? People are just to quick to jump down the guys back who is sleeping on the floor of the truckstop.

Buy them the actual meal don't hand them give them cash is what I've always been told. I used to work for a guy who said he hired a couple indians on the reservation to help him put up a greenhouse tent and they went straight to the liquor store across the parking lot after he paid them.

I don’t know man . I’ve been to some truck stops where I had to call dispatch to find the exit out of the parking lot

Oh I know. Well aware some folks have whatever issues. My beef isn't with them. Someone in dire need isn't likely to have an expensive Cell phone, or other things that come with a income. Food stamps? I don't mind people who need them using them. I do mind if your using them an buying said cell phone or something else that is a WANT not a NEED. Personally I prefer food banks. I even donate to the ones on my sandbar. I figure if you can afford your fancy phone, fancy whatever, you could fancy to buy your own food. An let people who truly need the help, get it. ;)

There are all kinds of jobs out there, even for the homeless, poor, etc. It's a matter of making the choice to live off others by panhandling/begging, or find a job...any job. Some folks have mental issues,or physical issues, an may not be able to work. I'm cool with help to them, that's what disability is for. Apply for it.

Far as buying someone a meal - That's your choice, an I respect it. I prefer also to buy someone a meal or or some groceries vs giving them cash.

We all need a hand at times. I don't understand why you would choose an expensive phone, a 12 pack of beer, a carton of smokes, drugs, steak vs food that could make you dinner for a week or more over you know...true needs. Like a job, a roof over your head, etc. An lets not say they don't have a choice. You always have a choice. Also plenty of ways to obtain a cell phone for free, an the time for it. No excuse to need an Iphone if you can't afford your own food or housing.

You may not like your choices/options, but they are always there. Nobody said the choices/options would be fair or easy ones. Life isn't fair as we all know. But There is always a choice.Like the fellow in a prior post mentioning living in a trailer park. He didn't like that. He made the choice to get out of it. To many people choose to stay in the trailer park/hood/projects/park bench/driver break room/etc.

Life kicks you down, you need to choose to get back up.

Here's a song...it's old. Still applies though to life today.

I'm coming for Heavy's world title for long posts. ;)

Folks helping folks is always a good thing. Abusing or taking advantage of such help isn't a good thing, and makes people not want to help. An sadly the abusing/advantage part is far to common of a practice these days.

Sirscrapntruckalot - I've been up and down and over and out
    And I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race - Frank Sinatra...That's Life.

how is that "free" labor when they get paid?

Apprenticeship plumbers start at $14 an hour, go up from there. The same with a number of other skill trade programs, there is no free labor, you are working and learning at the same time.
