So far it has been the BEST decision I’ve made in this business. It has doubled our revenue and it makes running the miles so much more comfortable. I’ve had a couple issues mechanically speaking, but they were both warranty covered so other than a tiny bit of inconvenience it’s been great. It was a big leap of faith, but as I sit here today, Im glad we jumped!

I am glad to hear it has worked out for you. I have a good friend who has 2 of those style rigs and he really does well with them. He is buying a 3rd one currently.BigBob410 Thanks this.

I don’t see myself ever dabbling into dealing with other drivers again. I tried that once before and was a nightmare. The wife and I are happy tootling around where we want to go. Making nice money and enjoying each other and the country.
The only question I have for myself at this point is whether or not I’ll do it again. Im 55 and not sure if Im going to want to bite off another big debt or not right before I turn 60 provided I remain in good health. But yes, it was certainly the right move for us. I never thought Id see my wife climbing up all over that truck and trailer but she does. I drive one up and before I get the next one on she’s already thrown the straps over the wheels and ready for the next one. Be careful up there I say, she scares the crap out of me but she loves doing it.KANSAS TRANSIT, BigBob410 and Banker Thank this. -

I briefly thought about having a friend/driver who wanted to slip seat my truck and I quickly came to my senses. In my operation it should work logistically and financially, but I just don’t think it is worth the risk/headaches that accompany the revenue. Stay safe out there!Kozakvod Thanks this.

The firetruck guy showed his build on one the the FaceBook pages. I recall he just go into hauling, and thought that would be a good rig. No one knows what he was thinking!
Kozakvod Thanks this. -
As far as I know Fire departments across the country are allowed to order their new engines without DEF so I can see buying their older trucks to avoid DEF nightmares in the future
-
I spoke with a salesman at freightliner and he said on their fire trucks they have a bypass on the emissions systems in case of an emergency situation

My house burnt down because the fire truck had to stop and do a parked regen on the way.
