You do not make any sense at all. Your scare tactics are weak.

I have my own authority. The biggest risk is you are responsible for everything - including taxes, filings, insurance, drug monitoring program, registration, finding your loads and the list goes on and on.
For many, the benifit of allowing someone else to handle all that is well worth it.

Some of us don't want to sit on the phone all day looking for a load and trying to negotiate a rate. Although it's well known that lots of you independents aren't the best rate negotiators and take what ever you can cause you gotta go.

When times are slow it's nice to be leased to a company that has contract freight.

Company I'm leased onto has many many who have once ran under there own numbers that will tell you when it's all said and done there isn't much difference in the money, the only difference is the headache went away once they leased on here.

taxes? Whats the big deal about saving your money?

    filings? You mean IFTA? Really?

Drug? Okay so take a drug test when you hire yourself ......

Registration? ... UCR? FMCSA? .. that's one time only ...

Finding your own loads? Every broker wants to deal with a one man operation. Not a prick dispatcher who is having a slave driver show up late to pick and delivery.

So, again, I need help understanding? .. thanks.

Tell us more about you and your situation and maybe we can help you better. First, why are you asking and why do you care if someone else doesn't want to run under their own authority. It looks like you don't think it is reasonable to lease on so don't do it.

    Tb0n3 Thanks this.

What's there to understand? You already have it all figured out, right? Keep on doing what you're doing and spend less time worrying about how others operate their businesses. You'll keep your sanity that way.

Seriously, to start off you need money and cash flow. All costs are on you, all repairs on you, loadboard brokers will want to pay you little. First months are not very rosy. Everyone around you will want a piece of what you make. I don't discourage or scare. If you aren't scared then go for it. I am just saying there are those who do better while leased on. I chose my own authority because I did not find anyone good or fair.

I can't figure what you need help in understanding.....they other guys just told you reasons as to why they opt do things the way they do. What works for you may not work for others. I know my company pays 72 percent of the line. The 28 percent or whatever percentage other companies take just covers load insurance and whatever operating costs, which one who has his own authority would pay anyway. It's all a wash to me. The company isn't consistently making money off that percentage they deduct.
