A larger turbo can help, by removing some restriction, but be careful about getting one that is to big. Particularly on the exhaust side. If it is too big, you can loose power and raise the EGTs.

DD,I would need to know a little more about your 12.7.You say it is an '03 so that could be an EGR engine? What hp. rating is it?FYI,alot of EGR engines are 14ltr.

It is 12.7 rated470 hp, pre EGR. I bought it at select trucks, it had been 430 hp, the salesman at dealer said he "turned it loose". I have been told he might have screwed up something in the ECM. The guy that rents the parking space next to me has a 98 model that was a 470. He just bought a stock 500 hp turbo from a Detroit dealer. Said it bumped his MPG 1.4 and much better power. Thanks

DD,the dealer couldn't screw up too much with the engine rating. There are two basic ways the engine rating could have been changed.1-he could have had a DD dealer change it and 2-if he changed it with a laptop or a prolink he would only be able to change between programs that are already in the ECM,sometimes there are multiple programs installed when the engine is built.A turbo from a 500hp. could help.
