I worked for Heartland Express for almost 2 years. In October I rec'd a qualcomm message basically saying I had a good service record. In November I was informed I had 7 service failures, which they refused to allow me to see so I could agree with and/or dispute them.

I was told that either I quit voluntarily, or they would fire me and put these so-called service failures on my DAC.

Has anyone else had problems with this company? If so were you able to collect unemployment?

I drove for heartland for four months...someone backed into my truck while I was inside a pilot taking a shower...didn't even notice it as i came out to go to sleep as i came from the back of the truck to get in...the next morning i got out to do a quick check of lights and tires i noticed the damage...it wasn't bad just cracked the hood...truck was still driveable so they sent me to columbus yard and drop my load... the next morning shop foreman came out and pulled the ecm fuse to shut the truck off and told me that some guy wanted to see me inside....the fm superviser told me that i had hit something and was lying to them... and said it was my choice to either quit or get fired

this was 2 days before thanksgiving...my fleet manager called me while I was at the airport telling me he had a great load to get me through the the house...when I told him what happened he was shocked...said that is bs and that he was pissed they could do that to such a great driver...I told him it is nice to find out the hard way that integrity is punshed.....

But in heartlands favor for anyone looking for a job they do pay really well...I was very dissappointed in the way this situation turned out..I was making atleast 900 take home every week and even on hometime weeks i made 6-700 or more...even tho they have some weird rules and no inverters...but also better to find out now then when i had five yrs in the company and crap like that could end it...

Pitbull, I really do appreciate your reply. I'm sorry that happened to you. The shop foreman did the same thing to me, pulled the ECM and told me I was wanted inside. But I have a question. Were you able to get your unemployment? I was denied because of that "Voluntary Quit" letter, however after doing a little research, I found something that may help me in my appeal. Wish I could PM, so I could give you the particulars. But in essence what I found is a description of the actions necessary to show intent to voluntarily quit, none of which I demonstrated to Heartland. And from what you say, you definitely have not demonstrated the intent to voluntarily quit either. I very much appreciate yor reply. I'll keep you informed in regards to the outcome of this appeal. Have a great day, be safe, and keep the shiny side up driver.

I would assume one of the rules they have would be 'no pets'. They have any O/Os? or they all Co. drivers?? I want a good company to work for down the road...one i could actually make a career out of. Heartland seens to be pretty good, dont really hear alot of complaining about them, aside from this thread.

anyplace i can go after getting a year experience, and make $.45cpm or something close would be great.

They pay good but depending on which terminal your running out of good luck on getting any miles. I was averaging about 1500 a week while I was there. A lot of their drivers are complaining about not getting any miles.

no pets, no inverters, 2000 to 2200 miles when freight is good 1600 to 1800 when freight is bad. this goes for o/o as well. There is no way around it either because the fleet managers are controlled by preplan managers and they are controlled by iowa policy. If u dont like this i advise you to find another company.
