I've been asked by broker a few times if my truck is cali compliant.
Had trailer registration checked a couple of times by shippers. Nothing over 10 years allowed. -
Gross and NET are 2 very different things.
A lot more to it than just buying a truck. And not saying this to scare you or deter you from anything. But with a $2500 - $3500 a month truck payment,.. you will be working a lot harder than most company drivers just to stay ahead of the curve and really not NET much more. And if you dont work that hard,.. odds are you wont survive.
Welcome to trucking.

spyder7723 and Tug Toy Thank this. -
Paid $20k for my first truck. First 1.5 yrs it was pretty much problem free.
I still have it. Has over 1.5 million on it. I have a driver in it and its still making me money.
New or used,.. you are going to put some coin into a truck. Warranty is no guarantee,.. and does not cover your expenses during downtime when it does and will break down. They all do. The more cash you have to start with,.. the better position you are in to survive the inevitable.

What broker asks for 2010 or newer? I've never been asked what year, make or anything about my truck. Ever.
They are more concerned about what kind of trailer I have, equipment on my trailer, scaleable weight, cargo insurance coverage,.. that sort of thing. 1970 Pete? As long as it pulls a loaded trailer from A to B they dont care.

I have been asked what truck make i have on a very specific load. New signs going to truck dealers, guess they think it doesn't look good to seer a peterbilt or kenworth sign being hailed by a freightliner.Truckermania and Hurst Thank this.

Used to haul some KW’s out of the factory in Renton, you had to have a Paccar product to load there. All because someone with some other brand loaded there then took pictures and put them all over the internet saying what a pos the KW was and he had to haul it with his truck.spyder7723 Thanks this.

Have you ever financed a truck before? If not you will be considered a first time buyer and that makes things tricky. If you finance a freightliner through the dealership you would be going through mercedes benz credit.
You can lease a brand new truck and pay only for depreciation plus interest. That would be about 70k for 3 years. Usually reserved for the big players.
What about insuring it? That is a lot of money to cover.
Think hard about the risks. It is not all upside all of the time. Again. Think hard about the risk,
Here is my take. Workhorse truck around 450k miles with remaining factory warranty. 25% down. Think cashflow.Travelworld2067 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the advice.
I'm looking forward to it. -
I'm looking to get my own truck as well. Are you leasing from a dealership or a company?
