    I venture to say there are probably thousands of non-english speaking drivers working in OUR country.Always thought the rule was being able to speak,write,understand and communicate in English.But just look around you-thats not the case at all.

    The TX DPS has busted a few people working in license offices for helping these criminal illegals get CDLs. They normally get a hispanic a job in an office and then he/she works the system for a price.

    Wtf..........................This just shows the authorities really aren't serious about enforcing the laws..
    If you jaywalk,you get the book thrown at you.Sure don't seem fair to me..
    I don't care where you came from,but if you want to live in the U.S.A.,obey our laws and learn our language...It's not to much to ask and would be expected of me if I were to live in a foreign country..

    I agree with ya'll. I had a very TOUGH time getting my CDL. I worked very HARD to pass their test. I think the companys that are hiring these people should be CLOSED DOWN PERIOD. Maybe I should not be thinking this way, but I'm SICK of hearing about the POOR people that can't speak or read ENGLISH and can't support their familes. Solution LEARN our language or GO HOME wherever that maybe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give the JOBS back to the REAL AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That have fought and LOST life to LIVE here and raise our familes. Sorry if some of you here don't have the same FEELING on this SORE SUBJECT !

    {rant on} :biggrin_25516:I can't tell you how much this ticks me off! :biggrin_25510: This has been a major bone of contention between me and a friend of mine for about 20 years now. She used to work for NJ MVS and in New Jersey the written drivers test (non-CDL) is given in about 17 different languages. :biggrin_25510: This to me is wrong.

    It makes huge problems for law enforcement. A lot of these people come from countries where police are little more than uniformed criminals. When they get stopped for speeding or having a tail light out their reaction is often violent. There have been instances where NJ state troopers have been shot at by these English illiterate drivers.

    The argument for the the test being given in so many languages is usually that these people have to be able to drive to get to work. :biggrin_2554:What the heck? Where are they working if they can't read and write English? The other argument for foreigners is that most street signs are identifiable by shape and color or the picture on them. Not by words. I believe that was initially done so that illiterate Americans could get around, NOT foreigners!

    IMHO allowing someone who can neither read nor write English get a CDL is even more stupid and dangerous than letting 4-wheelers get a drivers license when they can't read or write English.

    I'm a Democrat but I am sick and tired :smt015 of these namb-pamby laws to coddle people who aren't even legal citizens! :angry4: I know many are here legally and have visas and green cards but unless they are speaking and writing English like the rest of us they don't deserve the rights and privileges that citizens have. :smt011

    When I am benevolent despot of the universe things will be different and better. :smt066 :biggrin_25525: {rant off}

    The last time I renewed my CDL, I went in, took the required tests and overheard one of the DMV examiners talking about how there were 10 sets of tests in English and they were updated every year as to prevent cheating; and ONE set of tests in Spanish that had not been updated in ten years!!!!! :biggrin_25510:
    Plus Spanish speakers can opt to have a translator/helper with open-book assistance......:biggrin_2551:

    I don't know if that's been changed in the last 5 years but hey, it's all about "fairness" now isn't it....:biggrin_2552:
