Hey Jason - curious what other checks you do before hiring your drivers? I've just newly got a truck and am looking for a driver, but want to make sure to dot Is and cross Ts

 

You can have a background check run against yourself for a variety of fees from a variety of programs.

One of my favorites is Axiom. (Spelling) We used to have a Little Rock Headquarters of this company until they moved to MN I believe and are operating under a different name. This company contains ALL records on ALL Americans dating to before we were America where possible on deceased American Citizens and ALL Living Citizens including myself. I did a check against myself though that company about a decade ago and they knew more about me than I did.

As far as EMPLOYERS Background checks against yourself in trucking, you can have that done too for a big enough fee.

It is unfortunate that no one in this Industry takes the time and trouble to educate new truckers just how the companies check against them via DAC, CSA, PSP, Background checks FBI etc, and so on so forth etc. Usually the driver knows nothing until something preventable has happened a couple of times in a short span of time and that person is unable to be hired anywhere. Losing big time economically.

That has to change as far as I am concerned. If we are going to have true professional drivers who understand how everything works for and against them.
