Ha. I'm 35k empty. And that's with only half tanks. I'm averaging high 6s to low 7s unless I'm both heavy and in the mountains. Or wide. Its amazing how much a wide load will kill the fuel mileage.

You aren't kidding. .24 cents at today's prices is 12-13 mpg.Tug Toy and spyder7723 Thank this.

Yeah, it's getting pretty deep around here LOL.
0.35 a mile @ 7 mpg would mean fuel is $2.45 a gallon.
0.24 a mile @10 mpg would mean fuel is $2.40 a gallon.Last edited: Aug 9, 2018
Tug Toy, whoopNride and DSK333 Thank this. -
I see I used the wrong metric...lol (sue me)
Last trip out, I travelled 1700 miles, before refueling. It cost me about $650 for 230gals to fill up, before I started.
I grossed $4100 in those 3 days, cost me $650 in fuel.
That means I spent 15cents to earn a dollar.
My fuel cpm is above 30%.

You're right. I just spouted off the number the lets truck app showed without really thinking. That is the average cost going back to last June when i got this truck. Obviously it's a little higher today than then.
For what its worth, last fill up (yesterday) was 2.815 a gallon in Ohio(about 25 cpg off posted price) and i got 7.3 mpg on that tank, so what's that? 38 and change cpm? The next one should be a little better considering i had less than 5k lbs on the deck coming down out of Ohio. But the following two will be worse cause I'm headed west over the weekend. -
And to me at least, if the customer sees your ad or business card and calls you and goes around the broker without you directly contacting them, you have not broken your no compete agreement.Tug Toy, 6wheeler, DSK333 and 1 other person Thank this.

I never call landstar the few times i have they are so low I believe 100% of landstars loads are double brokered. you will often see there posts right below other brokers post with the same pickup and delivery locations. sometimes they even try to trick you by putting different locations but after you call the switch it to a nearby city which is the exact same as the other posts. you call the other broker and they offer the same load it higher price. landstar is known for double brokering freight. Honestly I dont think they even have there own customers.Lite bug Thanks this.

They have their own freight. Lots of it. They also run the biggest double brokering operation that I know of lol.whoopNride, Lite bug and PPLC Thank this.

God, ain't that the truth. What's really fun is when they post a load you've been awarded without even calling on it.whoopNride Thanks this.

There's a brokerage called i.c.c.i. that does the same the same thing. They spam a particular lane I run every single day with load offers (with no rate attached) that I know for a fact they don't have contracts for.
I've complained to DAT about it and they won't do squat. I refuse to do business with them (i.c.c.i.) because they do it so freaking much.whoopNride Thanks this.
