I had heard if you order over 300" wb they always want to double or put a insert in. You know bout that @Cat sdp?Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
Not sure of the exact length , but yes that long they want/demand a insert or full double....
-
I went and measured mine. They are 12 1/2 X 1/2". I was told kenworth was offering that now. That is second knowledge but it's from a good source. Of course he's not looking for 300+ inches
Oxbow, snowman_w900 and Ruthless Thank this. -
I will add also IHC only offers it in the HX or older 5900. Anything else you can't get factory heavy haul specs.
Oxbow, snowman_w900 and Ruthless Thank this. -

With our 3 axle Reitnour flat I can get the 20/46 on the tractor but I have to remove my rear fenders to clear the frame of the trailer. With most legal loads I run about 14.5-14.8 up front. Can't get much more that with a standard step/rgn with a 10ft upper deck.
My jeep has enough swing clearance as well to run 20/40/60 or 20/46/60 if I want. When I stack up I usually try to slam the fifth wheel as far up as I can to keep my overall length down so I usually end up about 16.5-17K on the front and 26-27K on the drives.
Our 4 axle truck is a Pete 378 with a 14.5K steer and 54" drive/pusher spacings. He's about 1-1.5K heavier than I am and can only haul about 6-7K more. With the amount of legal weight flatbed stuff we do that extra weight makes it very difficult to book him return loads. He can only scale about 42-43K on our lightest flatbed.
I could probably get away with running 385s on the front because I rarely actually hit 20K but sometimes I do and I'm just not a fan of running things right at the ratings especially tires.
I've had the truck loaded to 20/65/75 on 6 axles once. Customer had a broken crane and needed a 117K piece moved to a different part of their building. Couldn't get the big trailer into the bay they needed it out of so I had to do it with our 3 axle flat. Creaked and groaned the whole way. The way the saddles for it had to sit the weigh was only spread across about 15ft of deck.
