Get it in writing! CRST recruiter was so nice. Appeared to answer all our questions honestly (some things she said they wouldn't do) BUT she told my wife that they make special exceptions for premade teams. She said No problem with the dog. That they'd rent us a car, get us a pet friendly room and that either one of us could take the dog for the OTR training. Good thing my wife asked for it in writing or we would have been stuck across the country with no ride home. Later we learned that they will tell you anything and even send you a bus ticket to get there for the "free school" but very few actually get through the program for various reasons, often owning money and are then sent home. I know many go thru these schools but we found a 3rd party tester that will give you dedicated training for $100/hr and then test you on their trucks for $350. All the pretrip info is on youtube and even videos on driver maneuvers. Going for 3 hours in cab training Saturday (which is probably more total time than you get in the schools with 6 others sharing the truck) and then testing Tuesday. Will let you know how it goes. Am looking for a company to finish me out but I won't owe anybody anything and am learning not to believe ANYTHING these companies tell you.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's a Gig. Already looked into what it takes to become an authorized trainer. $100 an hour to never leave home plus $350 to administer a 2 hour test. Not bad bucks!

That would be fabulous but we have the dog issue. She's only 7 lbs but don't know if that would fly. Will definitely check it out though. Also, wife can't currenlty pass the in house "agility" test which apparently some of these companies require ( lifting 50-60 lbs above your head) so she's eating her Wheaties and working out. I would do all the heavy lifting and that may not be applicable if they aren't paying for her school so we'll check it out. Thanks again.

V3, don't know about pets, but since there won't be a trainer with you, I'd take the puppy anyway and not say anything. Ask though, maybe they do allow a pet.

 

Here's a tip, if needed.
Some companies do hair follicle drug test; need to be clean 12 months to pass.
Some companies do urine drug test; need to be clean 90 days to pass.

 

Good Tip. Am going to have wife call them both tomorrow. Husky Trans has an add in my town with $1800 per week guarantee which is my goal but they "prefer" 3 months minimum OTR so need to check that out to see if they would consider a newbie. Also need to make sure that they don't have a bunch of deductions from that guaranteed gross. You know anything about them?
