I would like to find out if it is legal for a company to terminate a employee away from home with them to pay for thier own way home.

I would look at that as leaving a person stranded they do not want us abondoning thier vehicles or equipment why should they be able to abandon the driver.:biggrin_25511:

That is a good point but you know the companies are above everything. Or they like to think so.

We had a company abandone my husband and our 15 year old daughter in Denver and we live in CA. And were told we had no legal recourse.

Buy a truck guys. It's not that hard and the dealers are dying to get you one regardless of your financial condition!

The short answer to your question is that I don't think there is a law against it.

This happens all the time. I have yet to see anyone get anything done about it.

If I could find a place to put said truck to work and make a living I would be all over buying a truck.

Sadly until the market improves there are not very many places to find good work.

Hmmm... I wonder if we could make it a class action lawsuit? Something NEEDS to be done about this. Seriously. I mean come on. Spirit Express Trucking fired my husband for being 400 miles "out of route" in 5 months... and included the times they bobtailed him home from places like Modesto in that total.. Gave him and our 15 year old one hour to get everything out of the truck and off their property.... Luckily, my uncle lives in the Denver metro area, or they would have had to carry everything to a motel until Bob and I got there.

Don't piss em off so that they fire you. :biggrin_25525: :biggrin_25525:

OK that wasn't very helpful was it?

If you are going to quit them quit when you are at the house. Then wait for the new company to send you plates and permits.

I know that with hourly employees that are terminated out of town,..The company is responsible to pay for transportation home,..Unless you have your own transportation home,...
