Here's the problem: When you propose a strike for all drivers, you have to strike for something that all drivers would agree upon.
"We should demand better pay!"
Some of us get paid and paid well. Some of us are treated well. Some of us are completely satisfied. If you're going to organize a strike, you have to do a better job. Either find something that everyone agrees on OR find something that everyone in an area agrees on.
Start with a section of the reefer industry since it is the most deplorable. Even the dry van guys dont get crapped on as much as the reefers. See, almost everyone universally would agree that the reefer guys get crapped on the most. That was a start or many of us and we all refused to be crapped on and we all left. So many stay. Start with one segment of the reefer biz...like the United Brotherhood of IceCream, and corner the icecream market. It could snowball from there.
Or attack a mega carrier's reefer division. Like CR England. Create a catchy slogan, "Friends Dont Let Friends Drive for England." Hit their schools and recruitment places. get a England recruiter's phone number and write it on the men's room wall of every restaurant you go to. England has to keep a certain number of rookies in. If you slowed down the influx of rookies just a slight bit, and the recruiters would be extremely hesitant to answer the phones after constant inquiries of buttsex, England would quickly have to either concentrate more on driver retention or steal drivers from other megas.
There's 2 things you need to do in order to steal experienced drivers...
1. Offer a better pay package
2. Offer a better truck
They would have to do both.
If you hit the very bottom and make the very bottom step up their game, it would have a domino effect through the whole industry. Start there, start small, gain a little momentum and then hit really hard.

A guy who signs a LO agreement, can't leave either....he's stuck. You think that's BS? (go ask some of them). MANY, LO operators 'are slaves' (they can't haul for anyone else, and that's the problem----they're STUCK)
This ain't the America that you think it is. Its now Corporatocracy. (hover over that if you want to learn what's going on in our country). -
Most drivers are brainwashed. They 'think' they have choices, but they don't. (they know nothing else but driving). And when they wake up and they're in their 40's or 50's, they're stuck.
And that's where their choices END. -
Something has to be done. Were will you be in 10 yrs if you are still driving?

Not everyone can move. Some have families, ties to the community, kids, etc. Human beings are not robots.frizzbees Thanks this.
