Our "log lady" says whenever you aren't doing something that's affecting the truck or its load, you can be off duty.snowman_w900, Bean Jr., stwik and 4 others Thank this.

I’m my own log safety department. I log what it takes. Today it only took me 20 min start to finish. I have check in and out times from the scale house at the costumer. Why would I NEED to log 30 min?
If I’m loading or strapping I’m logged on duty. If I’m sitting in the truck waiting for them get back from lunch or, load the 5 trucks in front of me or, fixing the crane.......I’m off duty.
Most times I can strap and tarp a simple load in less than 40 min. -
Tarping doesn't take much time at all. I grab it in the middle and throw it halfway over the bows. Go up front pull it all the way down and throw the bungees outside of the panels, and go back and do the rest. The bad news is I still have to even empty. Legit, some places I can check in, set up, secure, tarp and check out in 30 minutes.

Generally in and out of the bay, dock, or door in twenty minutes of the loader is on the ball.
Connie for the win! -
I log it as it happens. I've spent 6 hours on duty unloading a barn before. As it is, I still get decent wages and seem to get home with 15 hours or so left on my clock. It might be different if I spent every 34 on the road.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I thought everything took a half hour even the 3 hour wait to get loaded.

"On duty-not driving" for however long it takes.
Bean Jr. Thanks this.
