Good morning all, this is my first time posting here and had a few questions about roehl transport.

I talked to a recruiter yesterday and he told me to call back in a few days to see if i had been accepted or not, but said that i should be since i dont have anything to major on my driving record (couple of tickets back in october of 04) He said they provide a rental car to get to orientation, now I live in Baltimore MD and orientation is somewhere in Wisconsin, do they do that for everyone or did he just blurt out the wrong thing?

How are the miles? I worked for US Xpress for 5 months and got decent miles with them, I know miles are gonna be tough to come by but id be happy with 2000 a week.

Do they have an accelerated training program? Ive got 20000 verifiable miles with USX to be considered an experienced driver by roehl standards but of course did not do any shifting. I would hate to start all the way over but am willing to do what ever is necessary. Werner told me i'd have to do 70 hours with a trainer but cant go to orientation till mid march.

Should I just go and get a refresher course to make my life easier? Or would they stick me with a trainer anyway? Celadon told me to get a refresher course, then told me to get a job driving a 10 speed, then reapply once i get some shifting experience.

Is Roehl really the take home more be home more carrier? When the recruiter said 11 out 3 home i got really excited because i have 2 toddlers and hated USX hometime policy. Do they offer that per diem package like some other companies?

Any and all information you guys and gals have would be greatly appreciated it. I hope I get accepted as Ive been turned down by a few companies for no reason at all. Ive got a good work history, no tickets since october 04, one suspension in march 05, no accidents, felonies or misdemenors. I know the economy sucks right now but it seems as if i cant get in anywhere.

How you left USX and what they put on your DAC is going to be a factor.

A lot of companies won't give you a reason for a turn-down depending on why, but if it is because you need a refresher they would be straight-forward about that and tell you. Also, taking the refresher won't get you out of the training period at Werner, so if that is an opportunity to go with them may as well just do it if nothing else comes up.

I'm on 11/3 although it's been 12 days the last 3 times. I've heard stories of Swift drivers stuck on the road for 45 days at a time, though. Depending on where you are, taking the Greyhound can be an option as well, but I recommend the rental-car method. You get at least a week with a trainer when coming over from any company.
