Tried to get out of trucking and took a 2 year apprenticeship doing furniture refinishing and repair, made journeyman and worked it 3 more years before getting laid off.
Seems people don't buy real wood furniture anymore like our parents and grandparents did, the stuff that lasts generations.
They just go to Ikea or Target when it falls off the pickup when moving.
    So...back to trucking I went.

    G13Tomcat and Oldironfan Thank this.

And trucks now are built like Ikea stuff. Break and replace in 3 years after warranty is up.

    G13Tomcat and Dennixx Thank this.

Wow... I thought all truck drivers were former elite special force operators, like me.

Managed Hotels for 15 years and got tired of the Corporate Politics! So I decided to come out in the road and start my own politics! Well what do you know...this industry is just as political but manageable at times!

    homeskillet and Oldironfan Thank this.

Security guard, truck driver, security guard, truck driver, security guard, and now daycab truck driver for the past, six years. If anything, the daycab runs seem to be the one's I've stuck with the longest to this point. Pay more than anything I did involving a sleeper cab.

I intend to get out of this one day. Into what else, I do not know? I'm just spinning my wheels at the local college during off-times and seeing what might interest me.
