I am looking for a place OTHER than L.A. Freightliner to replace the front wheel seals in my 2006 Columbia based Motorhome. Do y'all know of a repair center NOT owned by L.A. Freightliner in the L.A. area? I would drive to Texas to stay away from L.A. Freightliner.

    Your help is greatly appreciated,

    OGS

Come on over to Texas...just don't bring those crazy California laws and regulations with you!!! It must be something in the air or water. :yes2557:-jk-

Seriously though, wheels seals are a common job that any truck shop should be able to handle. Shouldn't take more than an hour per wheel. Make sure to check the cones and cups (aka bearings and races) for wear, and while you're at it check the brake shoes and drums. If the shoes are overly saturated with leaking oil, have them replaced on both sides...even if only one side is saturated. You don't want mismatched brake components on an axle, especially a steering axle! Also make sure the shop uses a good quality wheel seal. I personally use only CR's Scotseal Plus XL.

Rush Enterprises should have a Peterbilt dealer nearby, and I know they can handle the task.

    Hope this helps.

I wouldn't let anyone from the above mentioned shop even change the air in my wheelbarrow tire. Just my opinion from personal experience. Look around and try to find an independent guy. If you can find one in your area, he will do a way better job for a better price. Get on the cb and talk to some of the local trucks you see running around.

    Bit of an update..

I took the truck in yeasterday, to Colton Truck Repair and found LAF put the left front seal in "sideways". :biggrin_2555:

Colton had the truck in and out in four hours. I am VERY HAPPY with the work they did for us.

Here is a look at her..

You would think at 100 per flat rate hour they would have someone overlook these new mechanics.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experiance at LA Freightliner. If you had come in and advised me about the problem I would have personally taken care of it at no charge if the seal had been installed incorrectly. We here at LA Freightliner try very hard to take care of customers needs as quickly as possible and strive to get it done right the first time. But, we are all human and can make mistakes. At La Freightliner we stand behind every repair we do, if in the future you will give us another try come and see me and I will personally make sure your vehicle will be taken care of.
