My company has regular runs to Mountain Top, PA. Deliveries are always drop and hook. When I'm done, I want to go to the nearest truck stop while I wait for the next load assignment.

Closest truck stop from where we deliver is the Liberty Travel Plaza in White Haven. If I were a four-wheeler, I could go this route:

But my trucker GPS insists that I have to go this route:

Which is twice the distance and 3x the time.

It's been my experience that my trucker GPS sometimes thinks that a road isn't rated for trucks when the road is perfectly fine for trucks. On the other hand, I have learned the hard way not to put this bucket into any place I can't easily get it out of, so I'm a little leery of experimenting. I'm wondering if anybody knows anything about the shorter route up there. Can I drive PA 437 that whole way, down to the truck stop? It cuts through White Haven, which may be "No Trucks Allowed". Or maybe there's a weight-rated bridge? I dunno.

Let me help you out, just cause I can. According to the paper atlas, in the front there are no restrictions. However, if you go to map of PA and look at it, roads highlighted in orange are truck routes, grey roads are not. Your short cut 437 is a grey road.

Look at google maps as well, there are no trucks on that road and there are some nasty switchbacks. There is one point where you pass black diamond, most severe of hiking and ski trails.

If it were me take the long way.

Yea what this guy said. I'm from north east pa closer to Binghamton than Scranton but if its not a truck route steer clear of it some of the 2 lanes around here aren't meant for a 53 and can get tight so god help you finding a turn around if you come up on a low bridge (most likely an old rail road bridge

    Hegemeister and CrappieJunkie Thank this.
