Yeah, I’m a pretty unfriendly SOB at work. Doesn’t take long to realize that it’s impossible to have a worthwhile conversation with a majority of the people you run across and it’s totally uninspiring. Sucks the life outta you real quick lol

I’m in the open deck side of the business. 50% or better of the open deck guys ride motorcycle. The majority of states have their OSOW route. There are a limited number of truck stops that you can get big loads in. And we like to eat in a real restaurant.
“What’s your point, Six?”
The people I meet, odds are pretty good that I will see them again. If they’re cool and like the long rides, we will ride. And they share pictures and videos. -
I just, in my best ukranian accent, say, "I dwive beeg truk, yes?" And believe me, no one will say a word to you …..
Cattleman84, x1Heavy, Texas_hwy_287 and 4 others Thank this. -
Considering most truck drivers I see are either fat, old, smell like a dead cow or seem to think everyone wants to hear what they have to say, I go out of my way not to talk to anyone at truck stops or even at our terminals. I'll talk to the truck stop employees and that's only because they usually address me first. I don't want to make friends. I don't run a regular route so I may never see these people again or might see them again next week. Either way, a "relationship" is pointless so I just stay to myself.
Just walking through the breakroom I hear some of the dumbest #### I've ever heard I shake my head and roll my eyes and I can't get out of there fast enough.
The best one I heard was one guy saying that a woman was on the plane with Buddy Holly when it crashed. What a moron. -

Yapping on the CB however is a different story.misterG, TheyCallMeDave, x1Heavy and 5 others Thank this. -
Same route for 18 years. Talk to and help drivers from different companies at customs all the time. Friendship with a couple.

I do same night line haul run over 20 years. Pin to pin so there is no interaction and I don't stop anywhere. Truck is fuelled at terminal. Messages although rare are sent via text. I won't answer phone as texts are "evidence"
Rarely say boo on CB as i have yet to learn Hindu or Mandarin.
I prefer listening to music all night.Last edited: Aug 24, 2018
