Trip Dallas, TX to Anchorage, AK

I did that from Pooler, GA in December, it was cold and the boat ride was long.

 

It may sound silly to some but I say go for it. Its an adventure and you will have bragging rights no matter what.

 

Ignorance is bliss.

 

A small unknown carrier getting a back haul is about as likely as me winning the lottery, and i don't buy lottery tickets.

 

That is one of the reasons besides my neck why I'm not going back to Alaska. To many tourist truckers and people that want to brag about going there. The rates have declined by two to three thousand Dollars in the last couple of years since there are plenty of people doing it cheap. We used to get more from Washington than the op gets from Texas.
Also the new boat is as fast as a truck for $6500.00 North bound. Hard to compete with that price.

 

If there’s a moose on the side of road, they run out in front of you at the last second ! Happened to me on the Kenai a few times recently. Be cautious

Whatever you do, if a moose stands in the street, blocking your way, do NOT blast the air horn!
