Just know where to look, and when. Right now harvest is coming be tough to get a deal. Let the crop get out of the field and bargains start appearing again

Difference is taking care of it. I can see that you do. I tell guys lets see you park beside me with your throw away truck at 1.5 mil or more miles. Hoods all cracked up, headlights flopping up and down with every bump . Dash all cracked and sqeaking out in pain. Lol.

2001 international with 700k miles on it. Guy wanted $15000.00 for it. After some conversation....

I paid $13000.00 for it. I’m now at 950k miles and about $35000.00 in repairs, 2 1/2 years later.

It was sitting in a trucking company lot with a for sale sign in the window. Saw it as I was driving by one day.

The day I brought it home. I had to spend about $5,000 to get it road ready before I stated.

Truck has generated just shy of $600,000.00 of revenue for me so far.

Look far & wide, and esp in the woods (I dont know any cousins in used truck business)

I found my 1998 volvo (real piece of junk as compared to @Diesel Dave's).
    - Cost me about $10K cash
    - Initial kinks $2K (rusted air tanks & drive's brake chambers)
    - 3 months after putting her on the road, cost me $4K (cracked head)
    - 2 weeks ago, I put all 8 drives for $2K cash

July grossed $19K ... and that's only running 4 days/week with 8MPG on 30+K miles since head replacement.

She a "Vulva" to some people, but she's mine, and she makes me money.

Right now is an overall awful time to buy a truck I think.

    House or property as well.

I remember two years ago you could get a brand new Cascadia with 500HP Cummins for $116K.

    Now it's $156K.

Freightliner of Arizona has almost 0 used trucks lol.

They have old Prime trucks with coffin sleepers and lawn mower engines, and some 680's & 660's with mid roofs lol.

No offense to anyone posting here, but none of this matters. His friend has bad credit with a shoestring budget. Only a couple of grand left over after purchase. The conversation was over before it started. Seen this before on here. People want talked into and reassured of their bad ideas. Just like asking about a company while you are on the way to orientation.

    BTW, awesome truck Dave.

Penske used to have a plethora of used Volvo 670's in the 300K to 400K mile range for about $40K to $45K.

Same trucks now are the same price with 550K to 600K miles on them.

    Tug Toy Thanks this.

I really really like your truck Tug. I find myself looking at all your pics often. Wish I had your skills. And shop space. And patience.
