Thanks. Must have a dozen antennas here at home. Am going to measure base height and choose one to do what you’ve suggested

Well, what I mean is. There is a high percentage of people that drive trucks. They bump docks every day nothing more. They don't see the need in having a cb, because there is nothing that requires them to have one. Some companies dont allow you to have a cb. Some "driver's" only feel the need for a cell phone, Google maps, or the directions the company gives them. A lot of these mega carriers dont allow you take a different route than what they tell you to. There are also "drivers" that don't care to socialize with other drivers. They just want to listen to their mp3 through their headphones and get to the next destination. Yes, there are some that have had cb's, and found the negativity and other bs not worth the money it costs to have a cb set up worth having.

    Just my thoughts .

Personally i am not getting in a truck that doesn’t have a CB...

I will live with a basic setup but not long after i will put my gear in the truck, good setup is a must...well to me it is!

    All valid points.

For too many it’s a paycheck. I think it’s too ###### risky to have that approach. Scary.

A CB breaks the ice. Some of the funniest things I’ve ever heard came across that radio (as in, laugh to tears) because I was alone and lonely. Tired, and frustrated. And ol’ Skeeter just drawled the answer to life’s questions.

    I'm with you 100%.

Every truck I get I have to put my radio, and antenna on. And, the last 6 trucks I've put new coax in. All just to get out more than a mile.

These new drivers just dont have a clue how just listening to the cb can save a life.

Mine is always on, on channel 19, except when I'm sleeping. I usually hear about 50 hours of silence, 10 hours of assistance, 5 hours of camaraderie, 1 hour of trash talking, and 4 hours of skip each week. It's so quiet until something happens and then they all come alive. I've always wondered why you would have one if you're going to leave it off until something happens. If all you're going to do is ask whats going on, you could just roll down your window and ask the guy stuck in traffic next to you. It's a very useful tool if you know how to use it. You can learn what's happening in real time, they are not illegal (like phones are in many states) You don't have to wait for someone to update your app. It's just truckers working together to help each other and keep each other safe, which is something I hear the guys that don't have or use them complain about constantly, how everyone is out for themselves, get a CB and use it and you'll see, it's not always like that if you don't want it to be. Yes, you might get trashed on it if you do something stupid, but if you get trashed, you probably deserved it, or you probably won't do whatever it is again, or you'll trash talk back, or you might just reach up and turn it off for a few minutes. Either way, a little trash talk isn't going to hurt anyone, and if your skin isn't thick enough to take it, you're in the wrong business anyway.

Haven't touched mine in so many years,
I can't remember what all the buttons
    Are for.
Only have one now because the
Company puts them in all thier trucks.

Haven't bought one in 15 years.
    Don't waste one minute looking
At them at the truck stop.

If a customer ask me if I have one I
Lie and say no. I'd rather walk back
Up to office 2 hours later than have to
    Listen to those idiots.

When's the last time you heard a
    Educated conversation on the CB.
    It's a continuous 6th grade level
    Of stupidity all day.

    I've never missed one appointment
Because I didn't have it on, so why bother.

    Forget water boarding,
If you want to torture someone
To get some information out of them.

Just lock them in a room in any
Big city and make them listen
To truck drivers on the CB radio
    24 hours a day.

In 3 days he'll tell you everything
You need know if he didn't hang
    Himself first.

Unpopular opinion: giving up on the CB because YOU personally are tired of the BS is selfishness, because the CB is a platform that depends on OTHER USERS to be useful.

Just another aspect of today's culture of selfishness.

No I'm not sorry nor will I back down from that. Call me every name in the book if you like, I don't care. Man up, put your radios back in your trucks, and turn them and KEEP THEM on. If I can continue to work through the medical condition I'm currently suffering from, you can handle that.
