Will this relieve the sandblast blues?
I asked someone at the local glass replacement company that my carrier uses, the lady said a new windshield is the only cure; of course, they do SELL windshields for a living........ummmm?

Thanks for the help. After washing my truck yesterday I feel better about getting by with what damage was done. If it bothers me this week I am going polish it like you suggested. I have had rain-x put on my truck at Blue Beacon truck wash.I thought It might make the windshield slick.I thought it might help the wind shield wipers last longer if the rain-x took some roughness out of the pitted spots. I my regret using it. I mainly was hoping for anything to make it alittle better. My truck is only three months old and I hate the idea of having to put up with the pitting. I think I would have been better off if it had been a rock instead of this sand.

I don't know if this will help, but this is straight out of my A&P (Airframe & Powerplant ) mechanics book on how to get scratches out of airplane windows.

Quote: " If there are scratches on the window that can accessed by a sander then using circular rubbing motions, use 320 or 400 grit abrasive paper. Use pressure and a mild soap solution as a lubricant, sand in a circular motion, and continue to reduce to a finer grit paper, until scratches have been removed, or reduced. Rinse with water periodically to check progress. "
    Unquote

if you us this method a little trick is to get a black marker and mark all the scratched spots by marking down in the scratched spots, and when you have sanded away all the black you have removed all the scratches.

Again this is done on aircraft windows, so I don't know if it can be done on auto windows. It does work well on aircraft windows though.

    Hope that helps.:biggrin_255:

Also I think at the auto parts store they have a kit that is similar to what they use in the airline industry. the kit I believe is called ( MICROMESH ).

It's 7 years later since this original posting. Still no product that works to effectively "fill" minor pitting that at least helps reduce the visibility problems associated with this issue? Mine is really only noticeable when driving into a sunrise or sunset. Got some more pitting in mine yesterday. But I have no chips at all. Next time through the shop, I'll ask nicely if they can replace the driver side (Freightliner) at least.

Maybe a trip to Walmart and a sling shot purchase is in my future?
