Yes and yes. The difference between the 1850 and the 2050 is very noticeable. Then again I see a lot of trucks with heavier specs only running the 1850 ft lb rating. The dealers also are pushing the MX hard to sell. More money in the dealer and manufactures pocket. We have at least 6 trucks with the 2050 ft lb rated engines at work. They are a joy to drive. The smallest rating that I deal with in out fleet is 1700 ft lbs.
Whats best truck set up to haul GCW 140K?

Stay away from western star. Biggest pieces of crap I’ve ever driven and Detroit’s are terrible. Engine brakes can’t hold anything back.

That's a shame to hear. Back before Daimler bought them up they were a tough truck.Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.

I’m sure mine was a good truck when it was new but the DD15 is a slug, it can’t hold me back empty at 64,000lbs coming down the smasher. The interior is falling apart but it does have 800,000km on it. Only good thing is the fridge it came with it. Lol

Your about the only person I know that loves his. Lol i will admit they have nice sleepers and the space between the seats is nice.

Newest Stars I worked on were 2006's and they were still pretty decent rigs. The older ones from the BC plant are still my favourites though.
Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this. -
