Iaa buyer expects a 5 car to unload forklift car

So the salvage buyer was asking for too much?
Return his phone call and act professional.
How can you blame the buyer for the price you agree to haul an inop? If you can’t do the job say no next time.

 

Just another window licker wannabe car hauler that is ruining this industry. I don't mind one bit if the customer calls me to discuss details (and I make sure he's clear about the amount of cash he needs to have) and the grand backup plan in any scenario is to call a roll back and drag it off usually runs $50-75.

I've been on both sides of this as I list vehicles for transport that I don't have time for and I have cussed out so many of these idiots it's not even funny. I put it in the notes and tell the carrier on the phone to give several hours notice for delivery as some of these dealers are small operations and could be at an auction or something, I can't even count the number of times I've been called by these morons telling me that they are at delivery and nobody is there! Well guess what? Now you get to wait because you're an idiot who can't follow simple instructions

 

A Professional car hauler would have had that vehicle off of the trailer in 10 minutes!! Obviously this driver was inexperienced or just had a bad attitude. A simple Google search would have provided the location of the shift interlock override! The wheels were straight and inflated! Might be time for him to go back to swingin' doors and bumping docks!!!

 

Hell I had a Toyota Prius stop recognizing the key while it was on my trailer. When that happens all four wheels are full lockdown. This was delivering to a Toyota dealer so they had a tech come out and program a new key while it was on my trailer. Over 2 hours go by and he still can't get it to work. I tell them either call a rollback or start paying me by hour to sit there, so they had a roll back come to drag it off my trailer lol

 

That happens all the time in NY in the winter. Remote batteries go dead or the car won't recognize the fob. I like good old fashioned keys. Some auction yard guy told me if you throw the fob on the defroster of another car and get it warm it'll help .

 

If you haul 5 cars with a pick up truck there is no help for you,you had no idea since the beginning

 

So as a driver ,a guy who doesn't have a clue just learned a lesson, professionals who buy wrecked cars have fork lifts,but you got the best price

 

It was rolled on, and he didn't expect the vehicle to have that different of a transmission unlock from the dozen others he's bought from iaa. The driver didn't want him in the car because he knew better, wasting the time the driver himself obviously didn't have. The delivery driver was a total amateur.

 

Maybe this guy was a novice car hauler. The FIRST thing I would have asked was whether this thing was a runner or was inop. Then I would have done some research to find out about a shift lock override, usually a 5-minute Google search on your smartphone. Then I would not have put this thing in the belly if I could help it; that way you could always use gravity to roll it off the back ramp.

I've dealt with too many customers and brokers who weren't forthcoming about the condition of their vehicles before hiring us to haul them. An experienced driver will do his due diligence before agreeing to haul a car and get as much info as he can before stepping into a steaming pile.
