Any Knight drivers have any info running out of the Olive Branch,MS terminal. I am leaning toward dry van. The only thing that concerns me is the pay. It seems a little low for a 15 year seasoned driver. I need to make a decision this week between Knight and Heartland. I am looking for decent pay and hometime. I would think 1800-2000 miles a week and home weekends would be realistic. Any advice would be appreicated.

If Im gonna be gone away from home for five or six days a week I had better be getting more than 2000 miles per week. I could make more being a manager at McDonalds. Come on people after deducting insur, taxes and eating on the road being away from family how can you survive on 2000 miles per week.

Tribaldady, I drove for Knight for awhile and left cause I thought the grass was greener bein an O/O, but it wasn't. I'm actually gonna be goin back to drive for them if freight doesn't pick up. I was out of the Carlisle, PA terminal. They're pretty flexible. I was runnin anywhere and everywhere, and when I told them I was giving them my two weeks notice, they tried like hell to get me to stay. They offered me dedicated freight, home every weekend, they even offered to give me a raise of .02/mile. But stupid me thought it would be better bein an O/O. Which at first it was, but with the economy like this, I can't survive. Each terminal is different, but as a whole, I'll recommend Knight to anyone.

I've been with Knight out of Tulare Ca. since Sept.
I have to say that I could be making better money, Most trips are too short(average about 560 miles). But other than that I like the company.
They worked with me on my "hometime" and pay promptly and have no forced dispatch.

How hard would it be to get an I-5 run? I live in the central valley and have youngins at home. Not likeing the thought of leaving them behind.

I've been with knight since Feb '05. Currently I'm dedicated on IKEA for the Portland store and Canadian loads(which I drop Tukwila). Which if you are in the know, that narrows who I am down to just 2 drivers.

I'm turning a round trip ever 4-5 days for either 1760 or 2100 miles. Usually I have to take a 34 every 1.5 round trips but I get at least a 10 at home when I don't get the 34 there. My miles stay around 11-12k a month and I'm dropping/hooking 75% of the time. Pay per mile is a little on the low side but the fact they are close to my house and I get home so often make up for it. I've got to great DM's that I can call 24/7 if I have a real problem.
