First of all I have thanked everyone one of his replies. He sees that I have thanked him and his research. I don’t have to sit here type out thank you every time someone replies. That’s what the thank you button is for. But if it will make you feel better so your little feelings aren’t hurt then I will do that just for you. @Chinatown I want to physically type out thank you for your research. @Redtwin i want to thank you for your help as well. I apologize to anyone if I didn’t physically type out the words thank you. @iconsult now is that better for you? Why is it that people not offering to help always have something negative to say and bring no value to the table. And when I say negative I’m talking about if a company is bad or not. You my friend are just trying to instigate something. If those guys had something to say then they would have said it. They see I thanked them for replies and research. Get your facts straight before you come at someone with false information. You have a great day sir. God bless and stay safe.

From what Im seeing $800ish gross per week is about all I can expect if I want to get home daily. That's a massive drop from the $1200 take home I'm used to doing OTR so I'm in no rush. I would be all over that gravy no touch Staples even for $850 though as I suspect single insurance would be much lower.

I hear you on the LTLs, I have multiple apps in with 7 of them dating back to May and can't get anywhere. XPO and Estes turned me down because I didnt have LTL experience. My 2+ years of OTR mean nothing to them.

Fuel tankers for the same money as Staples (or other) dry goods just doesn't make any sense to me. Dry bulk pneumatic, while not hazmat, is still more involved than dry van or reefer so I would want the pay to be commensurate, but the Florida factor comes into play.

Good luck, I know you will be needing it.

Yea I make 1200-1400 take home OTR and to drop below $1000 I would be putting my family in the streets. I’m in no rush as well. The staples gig would be nice and I would be all over it but with a family that pay would do nothing for me. I would be working for free after taxes and insurance. You would be looking at like a $400-500 paycheck.

That’s funny about the LTL. They claim they need drivers but never call or say you don’t have LTL experience. Both XPO and Estes said the same thing. Two years experience OTR should be plenty enough but like you said they don’t care about that. I did get an interview with Fedex Freight but they decided to not go with me and hired two other guys who ended up quitting after a week because they didn’t like working the dock. I bet they wished they wouldn’t have overlooked me now.

I agree with the tanker job. I talked to a couple of them today and they were offering less than what I make. Again I’ll wait. Patience is a virtue and good things happen to those who wait I believe. But I just got done talking to my boss and it just so happens a route opened up and I would be home everyday and making the same amount of money so I jumped on it. Yes it’s a little more work but same pay and home daily kind of balances out. I’m just gone have to eat that insurance bill. Lol.

I want to thank you guys for all your help and research. It’s been a struggle to see these companies needing drivers so badly but they pay minimum wages. But then again this is Central Florida. I had a problem and I came to you guys for some help or guidance and you all have helped me make a smart decision and not a decision based on feelings. My company pays well just wanted to explore other options to see what I’m worth in other markets of this industry. So I guess for now I’ll continue my Journey with Fastenal and be a route driver again. Thanks again to all and god bless and stay safe out there.

Check the federal credit unions and also USAA and maybe find some health insurance that's ok. I don't know for sure though. USAA really goes all the way to help military veterans.

Wait a minute. USAA offers health insurance. I use to be with them back in my military days and never heard of that. I’m with Navy Federal and I will be checking this out now. Thank you for that.

I just checked the website for USAA and saw dental and vision, but not family health insurance. I'd call anyway and ask.
USAA came to the rescue when I was trying to purchase a house. I had a problem with American banks and USAA took care of the problem and made sure I could buy the house.

Ok will do and if you don’t mind me asking how was the house purchasing. Did you use your VA loan? I know they have a minimum credit score of like 626 in order to be approved for a home loan through the VA. USAA is a great bank and company. I’ve just been with Navy Federal for like ten years and they have never steered me wrong. Sorry to get off the topic of trucking.

Just go with a conventional loan if possible, try to put as much down as you possibly can. The VA loan has its quirks, just been easier imho to go conventional.

From one vet to another, go back to USAA asap. Been with them almost 15 years, one outstanding organization ,kudos for the patience in sticking it out with your current situation btw.

Ok thank you. Yea I’ve been thinking about going back to them. And thank you for my current situation. It was a difficult process and decision but I know in order to survive in this industry you have to make smart decisions and not base decisions on feelings. Trucking can be brutal sometimes but it’s a challenging career and I love it. One of these days I’ll own my truck which is my dream doing daily runs. Just going to take my time and let everything else play out. My time will come and I will know when I’m ready.
