I know a guy, ex deputy from a county that went to work for the DOE back in the 1980's. He would be flown all over the country in large aircraft with just him, the air crew, and the commodity.

I also had another friend who was a special education teacher and moonlighted as a deputy who lost his job teaching & moved to AZ. The 3 of us bummed around since high school. This other guy that went to work for the DOE would about once per year bring outdated ammunition (ammo was outdated after 6-months back then at DOE) out to AZ. Whenever I could I'd fly my Aztec out to AZ. We'd take the ammo out in the desert & for about 2-days we'd use it up. Man was that fun!!!!!!!!!!

If you know anything about ammo, you know what a "plus P" round is. Well, this guy brought out "P plus P".....what a recoil. .45 ACP hollow points with a hexagon-shaped head that was serrated at all corners. It imploded upon impact, but then exploded when it hit the second matter because it had a little ball-shaped deal inside the hollow point....the hole coming out was about twice the size of a normal .45 hole. Grenades........all kinds of stuff, some I can't and won't mention. I can tell you that in the desert outside a certain city in AZ there were holes in the ground like you couldn't believe.

That "commodity" it's what I was working and the drivers would show us their pay stub and brad. But you know we could load and unload (quit a precision process ) the trucks but could never look inside the cab. That is until they were on 60 Minutes and then they'd take us up and we could look inside the cab. But back then they were driving the old Maron COE. There was once a so called state inspector on one of these boards that told me if he wanted to he could order them to open the trailer. Obviously he had no idea what he was taliking about.

    LOL

A friend of mine offered me a job after High School graduation to intentionally crash 18-wheelers and military vehicles. The pay almost made me want to sign up but then I remembered the thing about "crashing" with me still in it and decided to pass it up. Yep, there's still a crazy little piece of me that really wants to do it still.

I worked for a company in Florida that had a single axle Freightliner day cab that had been leased by Michelin to test tires . That was back in the early 90's . It had over 400 hp and would really get down the road . It had the best interior available also .

What is a lumper biz? Just hiring helpers to ride along and do the heavy lifting and such? Also, are there sites out there looking for lumpers? Be kind with responses please, remember imlearnin.
