Depends on who rebuilt the motor..if it's a Detroit reliabilt your good if no issues before 100k miles like ours. Not a fan of Fitzgerald Detroit Rebuilds! 500k miles and she runs like new! 7mpg avg as well.

Are the highlanders seqouias and siennas still shipped out of the plant or is it all by rail??
-
Its a fitz built motor. Im a real 1st impression is a lasting impression type of guy. Not saying i wouldnt buy a fitz truck. But i know for a fact it would not have a motor that they built or had any part of its assemblyTerry270 and Dominion Transportation Thank this.

Yes they still ship plant product by truck and rail. Roughly 2 years ago Toyota moved inbound rail traffic from the Louisville Strawberry yard to their yard in Princeton In. My company started hauling some of the traffic in January of this year. We haul a mixture of plant and off rail traffic.BigBob410 and brian991219 Thank this.

Yup many many problems with their engines recently. Im guessing they knew their days were numbered and started using Chinese parts. They've been keeping our local Detroit dealer very busy with rebuilds. I know a guy who was going to order a few gliders and he called down to Fitzgerald and said the only way he was ordering is if they installed Detroit factory longblocks and they said no.Dominion Transportation Thanks this.

My motor was rebuilt by Clarke Diesel at Fitzgerald’s. Like any piece of machinery it has needed some repairs here and there, but I won’t sell it until I am done with it. I also would buy another Fitzgerald’s glider tomorrow if I needed another rig. Even the problem child engines they have built pale in comparison to the EGR engines that go bad. Talk to someone who has had an EGR engine that spends weeks and weeks and weeks in the shop having parts thrown at it. When the aftermarket parts in a Fitz engine break, they stand behind it and put original Detroit OEM parts back in. Should have had OEM parts from the start, but they do stand behind them when they fail. Also with 3,000 rigs a year being built there are going to be issues. I still like my odds over a Paccar engine any day. My Detroit shop wins hands down over the Pete shop.

BigBob410 Thanks this. -
Yeah they made a point of saying that the Clarke built engines have many less failures but of course they would say that lol. I just rolled over 1 million on mine and I'm not sure yet what I'll do. Honestly leaning towards buying a reman longblock right from Detroit and swapping it inBigBob410 and Dominion Transportation Thank this.

Clarke Diesel in Louisville is who I use for my engine related work. They have been great to work with and will schedule work that isn’t needed to be done immediately. Since I am usually home daily they don’t normally have my truck sit for a day or two before they start to work on it. That helps keeps the downtime at a minimum.BigBob410 Thanks this.

You think you would trust them to do an inframe that would last another million?
I just had them do a front cover, bull gear, oil pump and cam and rockers on mine. Seems to be decent work except for a coolant leak and power steering line leak(both just left loose) that I caught and fixed on the road the next few weeks after picking it up. I'm sure the important stuff is fine but things like that make me nervousBigBob410 Thanks this. -
I would, but every job is only as good as the mechanic that does the work. A friend of mine owns a fleet of 50-60 rigs and has his own shop, but he recommended them to me for Detroit work. So far I have been pleased with their work.
