going on "assumptions", it may take at least 1 to 2 weeks to get a job, out of school. then orientation, then going with a trainer.
in theory, while in orientation you should get a stipend pay, and it ain't much. give it about "up to" 1 month in some circumstances if all goes well, based on assumptions.
however, if ONE THING is in your background, that can hold you back from EVEN getting a job.......
can't tell you how much more you're in deeper...
How long after getting hires can I expect a check, broke as a bloke

I would suggest Prime Inc in this situation. I took several years off to raise a kid. When wanted to go back into trucking i found it hard cause i had not worked in trucking in past 3 years tho i had not let my CDL go.. Prime Inc was only one to hire me during that time. I went through there refresher course/school in Springfield MO.. They paid for my bus ticket there, Paid for hotel, and provided 3 meals a day during this time.. They also paid me while i was in training.. I was a company driver for them for near 2 years.. I would not lease purchase with them.. (i am a company man).. Point is they helped me to get back on my feet in driving, and i got a check while they did.. I left cause felt pressured to lease from them at times, and new dispatcher i was given was from the lease dispatch side and tried to run weird on me.. But i will always suggest new drivers to go there. Get your training, stay a year or so, then go wherever you want..

I have a few credit cards already with a few thousand I could use up to pay for bills, well enough to cover expenses over a monthNavigatorWife and x1Heavy Thank this.

You'll spend m-f at Prime for orientation, by Fri evening you'll most likely be on a instructors truck. During the first week, meals and lodging are furnished. It'll take 2-3 weeks before you're back at the terminal to take your CDL test. During these training weeks, you're not paid, but they will advance you $200/week.
After you pass your CDL, you are back on to a trainers truck, for a while, it's like 15-20k miles, usually 4-6 wks. And you are paid $7-800/wk minimum.
Not a bad program. They have good trucks, a good training program, and nice facilities...but it's a starter mega company.NavigatorWife, Lepton1 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Far as advance this means theyll deduct this off your paycheck later on??

They do weekly deductions from your paycheck; something like $45 or $50 a week.

Well if you like to drive, get a job driving a non-cdl truck, like a little straight truck to pay the bills.x1Heavy Thanks this.
