Man, congratulations! That has to be a GREAT feeling! Was blessed enough to be able to pay for the truck in cash, counting down the days until I can get this trailer paid for though! That will be a huge help to my operation.

    Let me see here.
    I make a $100 and pay $20 in taxes and keep $80
    or
I make $100 buy something for $50 for a deductible and pay $10 in taxes and keep $40
    Hmmm tough decision

Buy something just so you can pay less taxes. That is NOT a smart business move.

The OP has no payments, if he feels he is making to much money and owes to much in taxes. My advice is go home and take a month off, enjoy life. If he wants to work hard he has the money to pay the taxes.

It's very hard to go broke with no payments. Your money in your bank is king. Payments make you a slave.

My motto exactly, buy what you need, do not buy just for tax deduction.

I've thought s lot about that. Get a new trailer... buy a back up truck...

But, right now, paying all my taxes seems like my best bet.

I lived abroad for a decade before coming back home for my daughter's edu-ma-cation. All that time abroad, my income was US tax free.

When I came back here, I couldn't find a job paying a living wage. So, I got my CDLs. I drove for ####ty little rip-off companies, mini-megas, and local hourly "work you to death" outfits.

When I'd had enough, I just jumped in and bought my own truck.

Best decision I've ever made in my own country.

You bet your ### I will claim everything under the sun, come tax time, but if I have to pay, I will gladly pay because as messed up as the gov can be, it still lets people write their own ticket to live the dream.
