    I plan on stopping at few weigh stations in different states and try to find an answer to that. I am sure that it will hard to find a definite answer though, since this whole thing is new and nobody really had any experience with that

    now here is the part that matters:
    There may be instances where the model year reflected on the vehicle registration is not the same as the engine model year, most commonly when a vehicle is rebuilt using a “glider kit.” In this circumstance, an inspector/investigator should use the model year on the engine to determine if the driver is exempt from the ELD requirements.

    simple you got a 99 motor NO ELD. There is no bear checking to see if your truck came with that motor.

    I would like to get one too. Does anyone know how 2001-2003 D 12 are as far as reliably. Seen few I could pickup cheap and get it fixed

    Usually they go up to 1.5 mil without problems. Good mpg, but gut less

    i had one ...way better than n14 460 and detroit 470....my friends 770 with detroit 470 couldnt keep up with me...for a d12 it was fast lol

    nothing illegal!!!! you can install any motor in a truck.you cant just mess with emissions and stuff... i was buying a 2008 peterbilt to install my 3406e on it and go with paper logs...
