Just got to CDL school and was told drivers get kicked for flimsy reasons...so is this just a scam to get money and they don't really train? If so, if I leave now or get kicked, will I have to pay full amount?

That’s a pretty broad question... hard to answer without more details. Kinda depends on the school/company and their specific policies. Any school should give you a policy manual and most likely have you sign a form stating that you received it. I would advise that you read that manual thoroughly.

Many new hires do get booted right away, but i’m not sure what you mean by “flimsy” reasons. Failed drug tests is a very common reason, along with failed dot physicals. There is a pretty staggering number of wannabe truckers who can’t pass a drug test. It is kinda sad.

Others might get booted for having poor driving records, maybe some sort of criminal record that the company finds unacceptable, etc. Again, this will all be in your school’s policy manual.

Give us an example of what you consider flimsy.

Company schools do their best to send nobody home. Private schools, no idea: I know more people get their cdl in Company schools where they train just to pass the test.

Company schools have a vested interest in not sending someone home. They know they will likely never receive any money owed. It costs to get the driver there, so they want a return on that.

Also most schools are 4 weeks. If the roommate has been there 7 that alone says a lot.

She didn't give specifics but she used to be a school bus driver so kind of knows the ropes so I' m worried. Another review I read online says pay is really bad because getting stuck waiting 4 loads....might have been a dated review not sure. Just would like to know when the contract becomes binding.

As stated above, it’s specific to what company you’re at, but most will not charge you anything until you have a CDL in your hand. At that point, they have provided you a service and expect to be paid for it.

    Which school is it?
Since you're already there, just ramrod your way through it and get that CDL.
