2000 Freightliner Century Power steering intermittent

Well Guys ! I let the system bleed for over 3 hours while the engine was running . Nothing has changed. When I would turn the steering wheel and see air being sent back to the resivoire , I would let the steering stay in that position till the air ceases then on to turning the steering till I see more air then let set at that spot and bleed the system . The steering is still doing what It started out doing. Again . If I let the truck set for a few hours and start the engine , the power steering seems to be working . After about 2 minutes of running then the power steering goes away and is like no power assist at all.
I am going to bring the truck to the dealership and have them look at it. I am throwing in the towel on this one.

If you're still getting air into the system, check all the pump suction lines. Loose connections may or may not weep oil but will suck in air.

As mentioned earlier . All the hoses are new and tight. If it were sucking air , after the system has sat for over a couple of days the system would reach a neutral pressure then start to weep. That is not happening. Vic

Could be old hoses, cracked inside or deteriorating. TRW has a great PDF on how to test the gearbox. How to properly bleed it and change the seal. Had the same issue with a leaking seal, replaced it and the same thing, had to buy a rebuilt steering box, $650.00 dollars. Mine also with low rpms feels like its hard to steer certain times, I believe this time its the pump. There is not much to the system pump, hoses and steering box, yes worn or loose and even low air pressures in front tires will cause you grieve.

What’s the T on bottom of box for?Anyone know?

The T is located at the top of the steering box on the supply side of the box.. One end has a unusual high pressure quick connect , which I think is used for checking pump output pressures

Mines on the bottom maybe it’s for bleeding like newer trucks have for pressurizing fuel.

Looking at mine yesterday design looks like pump pulls fluid throug box instead of pushing through just by the routing of lines . I hav no idea about boxes. I had none of those problems swapping out w a junkyard gearbox a few yrs ago . Was just wondering if T is for power bleeding like is done on auto brakes except instead of air using fluid.

moved the truck around in my yard and steering is a little better but by no means correct. Tuesday I am taking the truck over to my local detroit diesel shop to have them look at it.
