Sorry your first truck is a doozy. Our first truck wasn't great either. My theory is that when you're new you get a clunker for a short while until they're sure you'll stick around and put in miles. We started 11/30 and had a brand new 2019 truck on 2/2.
As far as Chicago goes, it sucks obviously. Lots of tolls and traffic, not much construction the last time we were there. Be really careful too, the last time we were up there (even with an updated truck gps) it still tried to route us under a 13'4" bridge on a street near the shipper.

People get hung up on the low starting rate like brain freeze or deer in the headlights which is really unfortunate. We were told last year coming in that would each be making 22 cpm but low and behold when we average everything out after the bonuses factor in it's like we are making 70 cpm. That's what matters to me the bottom line at the end of the day. Anyone know where I can find a driving position making more than 70 cpm per miles that's not owner operator or lease purchase?

We just had what I consider a bad September at 21000 team miles and I grossed $7100 for the month with some layover and stop pay. Good luck making that many places with less than 6 months experience.
That Doesn’t include the .02 per mile all miles safety bonus we get either.cincydrivermatt and TB John Thank this. -
I'm from Cincinnati also. I was looking into that company. Do you take your truck home?cincydrivermatt Thanks this.

I’ve got five months of OTR experience and have been reading the posts concerning Danny Herman Trucking. I live in the Austin, TX area and looking at this company. Home time is not a problem. Reading this posts it looks like there are not a lot of negative reviews about this company. Any more information about would be helpful.
Thanks -
Yes, we do. If you don't have room for a trailer when you go home there's a drop yard we park it at in Troy (near Dayton).
