Made me think about where people might be where they'd normally have their phone on mute, and it's going to sound off anyway and create an unexpected disturbance. Funerals, weddings, airplanes, the dentist......

Hmm, I wonder what would have happened if my phone was completely off? I've heard iPhones never really go completely off, this would have been an interesting experiment.

I never got one either, nor did my wife. We both have older flip phones.

Mine never went off either. I'm in USA but my carrier is based in Canada using Sprint network so maybe that's why. I've got a newer model smart phone so don't think that played into it.

Well, I think I'll count myself lucky that FEMA is not interested in rounding me up for anything! Everybody who got the message can rest peacefully now knowing they'll get their instructions when it's time to head to camp!

    (Kidding) :D

Well I found out if your phone is not WEA (Wireless Emergency Alert) equipped it would not receive the broadcast.

Some newer phones ( a few) aren't WEA equipped, and phones manufactured prior to 2012 probably are not WEA equipped.

I guess a few areas did have technical problems, but that was what the test was for, to ferret out problem areas.

    I got it.
    No big deal.

(I'm more disturbed that I think Apple is tracking my movements and using it to upgrade GPS directions. I have a couple of shortcuts that NOBODY knew about and yet in the last few years the traffic on these formerly empty side roads has shot up significantly.)
