This was frieghtliners attempt to keep cab overs alive... The single biggest push to go away from cab overs was made by insurance companies... Too many work comp claims for driver injuries entering and exiting the vehicle. Many other factors also helped to pretty much end the era of cab overs.
Edit: I believe still to this day about 70% of driver injuries accure while entering or exiting their truck.

I had heard that driver entry/exit injuries rose far higher as conventional trucks became the norm. Climbing up and down a cabover requires are very careful technique. exiting a conventional seemed like a "too easy" process for many, and they jumped out, skipped out, hopped out, bailed out, went out forward, went out backward, and injuries rose dramatically. I think still, there are many injuries sustained from improperly exiting trucks because conventionals are taken for granted as "safe" by by drivers in a hurry or who have developed bad habits. You don't develop bad habits entering and exiting cabovers. You may miss a step accidentally, but there is only one way to deal with themJazz1, T.Rucker, wis bang and 1 other person Thank this.

The OP's article has seven reasons that are not true. One of them came close but not one of them is a valid reason.

I like cabovers. Would love to see some modern Euro cabovers making their way into the US market...the Scania's, mostly. One of these days I'm going to buy a classic KW or Pete cabover, and put modern running gear under it.

Someone say CABOVER???

My favourite COE was my ‘88 KW. Maybe because of all the strange tail I got when I had that truck.
My good friend Wild Bill walked up to my K100 and thinking I was alone”Hey Skid, where’s your usual Trollop” at which point flavour of the week popped her head out my bunk and introduced herself
