Back in the 70’s & 80’s at the Kaiser Steel pipe plant in Napa,CA they loaded 40’ pipe with just the steel straps and the crimp connector. But they did nail in the blocking.I don’t know how many loads went to Alaska in the early 70’s. At the time I think it was the only pipe plant on the left coast.

 

Knapheide Ships truck body’s out of Quincy, il with only fiber bands securing them. No straps allowed over the body’s.

 

12 moving blankets and maybe the same amount of carpet squares. The metal was so sharp it actually cut my shirt. Way worse than it looks. Seriously need to buy that felt.

This is a load of mine from last week. Hill-AFB (SLC) to Davis MMonthan-AFB (Tucson) This is an A10 Warthog jet engine that was refurbished at Hill-AFB. I wasnt allowed to use my camera while on post at Hill of DM. The engine was mounted to its own little trailer and wrapped in a soft, padded and cushy waterproof condom. The whole load including trailer had to be covered by the tarp or they would not release me from the dock at Hill-AFB. Total weight was 4300lbs. Super easy!

 

Now that is a load I wouldn't mind tarping.

Out of curiosity what was the pay on that?
