The problem with stainless is it so soft with all the nickel in it,and the cheap Chinese crap we are stuck with not only is soft but rusts also.

I might just say screw the show truck quality for now. Slap 6 pistons in the block, repair the engine oil leaks, fix the back of the cab and start putting it back together. Once its mobile under its own power I can gradually add the paint, lights, chrome and interior as I go. At least I can get it on the road and have some fun with it then.
NightWind, Bean Jr., dngrous_dime and 3 others Thank this. -

Found myself back on track. Welded up a beefy lift lug for the top of the transmission. Bolts on in place of the shift tower. Gonna give the Kitty a bath and hopefully get it indoors. Hoping we'll get the head off sometime this weekend.

My first project rarely saw the road once completed and I had driven it for 18 years. Sold it soon as next project came home

Got the engine and the rest of my frame steamed off. Just gotta get it indoors and we can start the rip and tear.
BoostedTeg, Jazz1, pushbroom and 1 other person Thank this. -
Clutch doesn't look bad either. No worn or busted springs and plenty of lining left. Flywheel is hardly worn. More than likely just needs to be resurfaced. Pilot bearing may as well be called a pilot bushing. Seized up pretty bad.
