man id throw an acert crank in that C model some low compression pistons set of 3408 nozzles and build it up right and have the best of both worlds.
if that c model is pushing 600 ponies itll have plenty of torque too.
Swap 3406c to a C-15 Acert

My BXS puts up 72psi of manifold pressure and will run almost all day on the cruise at 137,000lb gross and gives me 5.2-5.5mpg. It tows loads over hills at the same speed my last 3408 did so i have no complaint with the twins.AModelCat said: ↑I don't know much about Cat's newer on road engines but a few people I've talked to (that seem to know their stuff) claim the Acert twins will outperform a single turbo Cat when done up right.Click to expand...

If I was going to delete the IVA's on an Acert I would delete the precooler and leave the twins.
AModelCat, Oxbow, SAR and 1 other person Thank this. -
Myself i wouldn’t do an IVA delete on an Acert unless it was single turbo’d first. I haven’t deleted mine because i still have the twins on it. Acerts were designed around Miller Timing, as a result they have an 18:1 piston. That ratio with 40-50psi delivery air compressing on closed intake valves seems like a good recipe for head gasket problems to me. That said, i do know of a couple that were coverted to single and deleted that run great.wore out said: ↑If I was going to delete the IVA's on an Acert I would delete the precooler and leave the twins.Click to expand...Oxbow Thanks this.

They are still 18:1 when you delete the IVA's your begging for trouble if you dont put the 16:1 cylinder packs in it. Though I agree run till it gives trouble then put the lower compression packs in it to spread the expense out.kranky1 said: ↑Myself i wouldn’t do an IVA delete on an Acert unless it was single turbo’d first.
