    Was in the Iowa80 late one night. Went into the restaurant. This older waitress is trying to comfort this young waitress who was sporting a brand new black eye. As soon as her “man’s” manliness is questioned, her next response is the Tammy Winette.

    “Oh, you don’t know him. You don’t know what he’s been through, the sacrifices. He can be really sweet. He loves me.”

    I've been the man who chose very, very badly. More than once. Way more. My life got better when I stopped making excuses for my SO's bad behavior and grew a set. This applies to everyone, be they male, female, straight, queer, whatever. If you're in an abusive/unhealthy relationship, and don't want to find yourself in another one, then the only cure is to pry your head out of your arse and stop enabling it.

    And I would add, don’t be too nice for your own good purely out of some sort of moral obligation. That MUST be a two way street, as is the conclusion I recently arrived at, suffice to say. If it’s not, only toxicity can result.
