I am a basically a new driver I received my CDLs in June of this year since Ive worked as an instructor, went over the road for one month and then presently with my new employer for 2 mos. but last night I dismounted my tractor and went to go check on an empty trailer and when I came back to my tractor had rolled into another trailer from a different company the front end of my tractor sustained major damage and I had to be towed from the customers yard back to terminal. I went to take a drug test but I didn't have the authorization form so they did not do the test.so I went back to the terminal and they said just go ahead and clock out and Monday talk to safety. On the way home I was rear-ended by a four-wheeler and I was in my 4-wheeler and she admitted fault with the police officers and they wrote it up as an incident report with no injuries. My car did sustain rear end damage. I am in California and dont know about reporting less than a thousand dollar damage, but i fear her reporring and possibly land me in hot ####.now I don't know where I stand that with all these events happening in one day. I will also add the fact that I had submitted my two weeks notice the day before as I have a starting date with a new company in 2 weeks how would that be affected ?can anyone tell me about what they expect on my DAC and my MVR where do I stand? You guys are always helpful. How bout now?
Where do I stand, 2 accidents, one in truck, one in personal vehicle

If you were not cited. Do not mention it ever. Like if you apply to new company dont mention your yard accident as it was not a ticket.
It troubles me that you are an instructor with less than 3 months driving or even less than 3 years driving truck. -
Did you or did you not set your parking brakes.? And be Honest!
-
The trucking school i eent to were in need pf instructers. I was student instructer then hiref on Air brakes I did not set.
What to expect from safety? My first incident ever -
-
Thanks GP359 and Oif for prompt replies
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
If you did not set your brakes in my book you are drug tested & fired. No more questions need to be asked. If you can step out of a truck without setting your brakes, you are a liability. To be frank with you...irregardless of your experience level, if you walk away from a truck without setting the brakes you are worthless as a truck driver.
I make no apologies on this one. That is the single most absolute dumbest thing i have ever heard. I hope you land on your feet, however in a different industry. -
Back when I was a newbie driver there was a couple times I forgot to set the air brakes but I always caught it before it could roll too far. They were also a couple times I forgot to put the caps back on the fuel tank it lost a lot of fuel out and one time drove all night through a rainstorm but somehow the water in the tank never hurt anything. The worst incident that I ever had was leaving the nozzle in the fuel tank and ripping it right off of the fuel pump and having diesel spray all over the place. I slipped the guy at the pilot 40 bucks to forget about it. You need to learn to take your time.

Rookies make mistakes.

Anyone can be distracted if that was part of the problem.
Or something just on your mind 24/7 like worries. Can be a bad thing.
Thinking out loud.roel1177 Thanks this.
