Was hoping someone would have the time to entertain my question. Looking to get into hostshot car hauling with a ram3500 and GOOSENECK FLATBED for having options to haul other things. I’m coming out of the Washington D.C. area and wanted to know what are the things I need to have to operate legally( insurance/registrations/etc) What are the pros and cons of non cdl vs cdl. And how to configure a truck and trailer combo that fits the weight limits if I do start out non cdl?

wanted to get into hotshot hauling to do car hauling and possible flat bed hauling. My question is what truck and trailer set up can I run that would allow me to keep my personal freedoms and not have to get a cdl. My preference would be a 2015 or newer dually ram 3500 and gooseneck trailer. What combination of truck and trailer can I get and not need a cdl? And withthat setup about how much weight in cars could I still haul and remain under the 26,001

You are involved in interstate or intrastate commerce hauling cargo for revenue, ie money paid to you minus your business expense.

    You will need a CDL.

You definately need a CDL over 26001 pounds and combination vehicle.

No one here in America is allowed to run about free as a bird on nothing at all. This industry is one of the most highly regulated there is.

I can hook a trailer big enough to take a car onto my class III tahoe hitch, my pocket might know a few dollars cash for the trip now and then if needed. But that's under the table and is the limit of my car license. The Tahoe is 8000 and the car plus trailer will be another 3000 That's about all I can put on gross with my license. Not much more than that. Maybe 4500 max trailer and cargo.
