Dealing with bad breakdowns

So, how do they get abs issues from those symptoms? Let me guess, that is the code your erratic ecm was showing at that moment.

There's probably a wiring harness that is failing. Ecm wiring harness. I don't know. But I don't get how you go from that to abs issues.

As an aside. This is why I never get my engine washed. Don't need more water, high pressure water at that, going anywhere it doesn't belong. My old truck would misfire on occasion if I had the engine washed. Then go away after maybe 10 minutes of drying out. Never did that driving in rain or snow or anything. Only at wash time and only if they sprayed the engine. So now if I want it done I'll do it myself in my driveway.

 

I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach this is going to end in deflating disappointment for the original poster.

I think I’d be trying to find a second opinion on that ABS diagnosis before I went to chasing parts.

Even if it requires a tow to a different shop?

 

Took them a week to diagnose that is insane to me. I would be asking how a bad abs module can cause the symptoms of all gauges going erratic simultaneously. And how they came to the conclusion some abs parts will solve the issue.
This, to me, looks like the beginning of the part changing game. You wait forever to get this issue fixed. Go down the road 10 miles same problem happens. Then what. Another 8 weeks for fuel filter? Come on.

 

1) get on phone or computer, contact every dealer there is.
If you find the part, go get it! Or pay them to ups overnight it to you.
I dont no about Peter cars. However feightliner only looks for parts in thier network. Or they just order from corporate.
Once when my dealer didnt have a part it was on back order when they ordered it.
My wife searched on comp and made calls.
She found TWO of them. First was 100 miles away in ct. But they told her, there sister shop who was only 30 miles away also had one. BOTH were cheaper than my dealer.
2) check Into getting a penske, or Ryder.
3) tell the guy you rented from. You cant afford his rent. Would he consider a lower fee, like 5% lower. or prefer to have truck back?
