Does anyone know the actual physical differences between 57 and 58 injectors? I know 58s flow about 20% more. Is it just the tip that is different? How do 58s compare to flowed 57s? I read on another site that one guy preferred flowed 57s. Was wonder the pros and cons.
Thanks

Thanks but I know that. I’m wondering why it flows more. Is it the tip or something in the body of the injector?

Difference of flow is the tip. When comparing a 57/10R0957/10R8501/211-3023 vs a 58/10R0958/10R8502/211-3024 the body group is same(includes plunger) 140-9827, same 154-6006 tappet group, same 170-5234 control valve group, same return spring 225-8492, same o-rings, etc. The difference is the nozzles. 57 uses 117-0484 nozzle group and 58 uses a 117-1149 nozzle group. If you break down each nozzle they use same dowels, main body, VOP spacers, stops, springs, and case. Only difference is tips, 57 uses a 235-2905 and 58 uses a 222-6662.
This being said, a flowed 57 tip (enlarged orfices and possible ground pintle) can flow the same or more than a stock 58. Possible advantage of a flowed set of 57's would be a set of injectors that all flow the same for a smoother more balanced engine.Oxbow, SAR, snowman_w900 and 3 others Thank this. -
I was on the phone with my fuel injection guy when you posted this. What he told me was a competition type flow job on the ‘57 tip will flow almost the same fuel as the ‘58, but with way less smoke. He built the ‘58’s that are in my BXS and yeah, they smoke a bit. About like a fuelled up 3406B, bit more than a truck length on a shift but run clean otherwise.Kw Owners Club and Oxbow Thank this.

Would you happen to have physical differences for the parts groups between the 58’s and 59’s ? Or can I get this somewhere in SIS? Thanks!
