I have a c15 cat in my Peterbilt with 18 speed trans. I have bumped up my factory 625 HP to now getting 675+ at back wheels and 2250+ torque. I feel a shudder/vibration when I start to pull a hill in 18th gear. Speedometer does a little jumping also. Am I over doing my old factory 2050 clutch? Any one have any preference or experience with lipe or pdi clutches?

What year is the truck?
I do not have any first hand experience with PDI, or Lipe. Have heard second hand about PDI, all were not very good. If I was buying a new clutch it would not be from them. Only bc the negative things I’ve heard were serious and consistent with each other.
You have a serious amount of torque, so I would spend the extra money to buy the heavier rated clutch, if you discover that’s your issue, which sounds like it is. -
I tried a lipe a few years ago. Not a great experience. First it has a hard and weird way to adjust. Some kind of rings you turn with a long punch, if i remember correctly. Second it pushes very hard at the foot pedal. The place i purchased it quit selling them. I use the easy pedal eaton. No experience with pdi. Think lipe is a old name, but made in india now. For whatever thats worth.

You can get a factory Eaton easy pedal rated for 2250 torque. You just need to change out the input shaft on the trans because it's a different spline.

Personally, I like the way they adjust. One guy can do it alone and measure it as you go with the rod they give you. Easy. But to each their own I guess.
They're a little bit "grabby" but that's the nature of a 2400# clutch. I liked them well enough I'm trying a 6500# in an attempt to stop blowing the centers out of them . -
If they are working for you then good.

The truck is a 2007 379 Peterbilt C-15 Caterpillar 625hp factory, but it gets fed a lot of vitamins, and last dyno showed of 675 or so and 2250+ on the torque.
I appreciate all the answers, and help. I didn't know Eaton had a 2250, but I suppose that is still pushing it if I am rite at that rating, so I should probably still lean toward the 2400 # to be safe. -
I’ve run more than that through a Eaton 2050 clutch without issues. I’ve read about so many complaints with a Lipe I’d shy away from them.
stillwurkin Thanks this. -
The PDI clutch is built by IATCO, it is an easy pedal based clutch, you can buy a heavier plate load from an IATCO.
The 2250 Eaton clutch requires an input shaft change as it is 14 spline instead of 10 spline, it also has no more plate load than a 2050.
A lipe would do as a boat anchor, that’s about it.
Honestly driven correctly a stock 2050 should hold without any trouble.stillwurkin, SAR and jamespmack Thank this. -
I wanted to buy a 2250 from my peterbilt dealer last time I replaced the clutch but they said the linkage wouldn't hold up to the heavier pedal pressure. Something to consider too
