Does the DD15 also suffer from this issue?

Yes, they are essentially the same engine. Just the DD16 has a longer stroke, different crank. The o-rings they use deteriorate after several years, harden and crack.
Although mine is way too early. I’ll get it in the shop tomorrow afternoon.

Update from my Freightliner dealer. It’s not fuel, seems to be coolant contamination. I know I put in the right OAT type coolant.
I put in two jugs last winter for a Webasto hose leak, both jugs purchased together. Then this last month I added this last jug I purchased last summer, the same hose needed additional tightening.
But the jelly like substance appeared after that. So it may have been the wrong kind of coolant in the jug. Even though I looked at the jug afterwards and confirmed it was the right stuff.

They have taken a sample and sent it for analysis, will get the result in a few days.
Meanwhile it is being flushed out.

Well the problem finally showed up big time. Since the original post, I continued to get this slime on occasion. Yesterday I noticed a mild burnt oil / plastic smell. I looked around last night, no oil leaks, but the coolant level looked low in the reservoir.
I went back this morning. Looked like the coolant was down just under the lower line on tank.
I spun off the filler cap and saw the tank was completely full of diesel fuel sitting on top of the coolant. I siphoned off a gallon in the jug, coolant is bottom two inches.
Truck is now in for injector cups ... 393,000 kms (244,000 miles)
