I've had this truck for a year with virtually no problems. Runs great and dependable. Lost power intermittantly the other day while on the interstate. Pulled over to look under the hood but of course could not see anything obvious. Got back on road and WARN ENG light comes and ENG SHUT DOWN light comes on though motor didn't shut down. Pulled over and sat there idling. Slight miss while idling. It acted like an injector had gone bad. Called roadside assist to hook to computer. Couldn't read codes because port not talking to computer. I'll have to figure that one out myself. Told me to drive it like that and would'nt hurt anything. I was empty and heading home anyway [ about 4 hrs away]. On the way home it was still missing and I couldn't get RPM's to go over 1500 even while going up through the gears. I've had an injector go out before but had no WARN ENG light and don't remember the 1500 RPM limit then either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

An injector wiring fault will cause a check engine light, misfire & limit the rpm's to 1500. It could be a failed injector solenoid or broken pass thru connector. On a cold start, try to identify the misfire by feeling the exhaust manifold for a cold cylinder. If the check engine light is always on you should be able to get the codes from a diagnostic switch in or under the dash.

Yeah, on the injectors you can also isolate cylinders by unplugging each injector one by one. Unplug one while the truck is running, if it starts looping and acting up, then plug it back up. That cylinder should be fine. But if u come across one, that when you unplug it and it makes no difference in the way it idles; u could have found the cylinder/injector at hand.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I have found a bad injector by using that very method in the past. I will check the injector wires and see what I can find. Thanks again!

Well I fixed this a couple weeks ago and am just getting around to update in case someone has a similar problem sometime. Pulled code 323 from computer which is cyl 5 misfire. Turned out pass thru connector was bad. Took about one minute to find it once I got in there. Running fine once again. Thanks for the response!
